How can I protect myself in a house fire?
If a fire starts in your home, leave everything, get out, and dial 911 immediately. Do not go back inside to get anyone or anything. If caught inside, get low and under the smoke until you can reach an exit.
What do I do if I'm caught in a forest fire?
First, always get as far away from the fire as possible. If caught however, find an area of clear vegetation and cover all exposed skin with a blanket or a jacket. Avoid canyons, as that can create a channel fire. Close all windows and doors (if applicable).

Install smoke alarms in each room of the house, prepare and cook meals safely, properly use portable heaters and give them their space, monitor electrical malfunctions, and keep flammable materials away from heat sources.

Keep vehicles off of dry grass, if setting up a camp fire set it up in an open area far away from flammables, when finished with a campfire douse it with water, and keep sparks away from dry vegetation.
